Age: 14-15
Start Date: September
Ideal For: UK and international students who wish to progress to A-level or BTEC Business
Compulsory core subjects are studied alongside a number of options. Students take between 7-9 GCSE courses. At the end of the first-year students will fine-tune their subject choices to target career ambitions more closely. All students are strongly advised to undertake two weeks of work experience between their penultimate and final years of GCSE.
The average class size is 8 students and this creates the ideal environment to provide the care and attention that is so essential during these crucial years of study. It also provides international students with an opportunity to become familiar with the British style of education and to acclimatise to a new lifestyle.
We ensure the students have a full and varied timetable that will allow them not only to achieve academically but also to develop as well-rounded individuals.
Students opting for the one-year GCSE course are usually aged 15+ and they generally take 5 subjects. This is an intensive programme and we would expect students to have some prior knowledge of the subjects they wish to study. British students may select this course in order to retake or resit their GCSE exams, or to transfer to Bosworth in Year 11. Candidates whose first language is not English will demonstrate their linguistic ability to study this course by meeting English Language requirements. These students will usually choose IGCSE English as a second language as one of their subjects.
On the one-year course, students choose Maths, English Language or EFL and at least one science subject from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. For the remaining subjects, they can choose from Chemistry or Psychology, Biology or Sociology and Physics or Business.
